Solar Power Plant Project Overview
LS ELECTRIC successfully completed the construction of the Yeongam 94MW PV(Photovoltaics) Plant, one of the country’s largest solar plants, and began commercial operation of the plant. This was the largest solar power project that we have undertaken so far anywhere in the world. This project was noteworthy in 3 ways as follows.
Firstly, it was the site of the largest installation of PV modules and ESS(Energy Storage System) in South Korea. this project built a 94MW PV plant on a 2,960,000 sq.m site on the premises of a 40MW wind power plant located in Geumjeong-myeon. As well as constructing the 94MW-capacity solar power generation facility, We also installed the ESS with a battery capacity of the 242MWh and a PCS(Power Conversion System) capacity of the 78MW, 154kV substation, and was in charge of the design of the solar power generation facility, along with the construction of transmission lines, manufacturing, purchasing, and managed the EPC(Engineering, Procurement and Construction) operation of supplying the entire delivery and construction. The site is a cluster where renewable energy technologies like wind, solar, and ESS are concentrated.
Secondly, the site is where all of our fields of know-how are concentrated. In this project, all the power generation technologies of our company were applied in the switching station, substation, and plant power facility processes of power production. The plant has all the facilities required in a transmission system from low voltage to high voltage, and it also serves as a milestone for us in that homegrown technologies were used in developing the transformer in the 154kV substation, solar power inverters, and transmission lines.
Thirdly, this is a site where greenhouse gas emissions are reduced through environment-friendly production of electric power. At the Yeongam PV Plant, whose area is equivalent to 150 football fields, the power generated by the 233,000 installed photovoltaic modules meets the energy needs of 30,000 households. Only 40 percent of the allotted plot of land (2,960,000 sq.m) are used by the plant, while the rest of it is left untouched to preserve the surrounding vegetation and wildlife.
