SK Battery America, the U.S.-based subsidiary of SK Innovation, has rapidly emerged as a leading force in the global electric vehicle (EV) battery market. Alongside global battery giants such as CATL, LG Energy Solution, and Samsung SDI, SK Battery America is one of the top four battery manufacturers worldwide. As part of its aggressive strategy to expand into the North American market and support the growth of the EV ecosystem, the company initiated the construction of its first battery manufacturing facility in Commerce, Georgia.
⚙️ Phase 1 Project – The Foundation of U.S. Battery Manufacturing Excellence
Launched in June 2020, the Phase 1 Project marked a significant milestone in SK Battery America’s investment roadmap. This state-of-the-art factory laid the groundwork for scalable battery cell production in the U.S., and was followed by the commencement of a second factory project in 2021 to expand capacity and meet the surging demand from global automakers.
